Two brutal defeats for IGC.

Headquarters on Havana:

We held our own for the beginning of the first match but we were not prepared for their use of Grenade launchers and Tactical Inserts and they were able to get 2 very long HQ Captures while we were scrambling to adjust. Their control of the map forced us to run from our spawn at the fountain in the back of the map which also gave them a huge boost in HQ Points.

Capture the Flag on Array:

The second Match was brutal – 8BB’s CTF strategy was very solid and IceManFlick devastated us in kills – Holding us in the killbox – watching as they captured our flag.

Good games, Putin will be learning from this experience!

Round 1: HQ 150-30

Round 2: CTF 3-0, 1-0

Check IRON Watchtower’s fileshare for the recording (available for a limited time).

Game 4:
HQ on Jungle 250-0 Cheerios
CTF on Crisis 1-0, 0-0 Cheerios

Match 1: HQ on Jungle
The first match was a shutout with Our guys playing like they owned the Place, Good Job Guys.

Match 2: CTF on Crisis:
Second Match was tight, we barely got one capture in time on the first round of the match. The second round of match 2 was a freaking chaotic mess…lol. We ended up in a draw which gave us the victory.

We played a mixer on the third round Domination on Radiation, It was very close and an enjoyable match, The SSG guys and lady were fun to game with, and we hope to game with them again soon.

After taking the summer off from competitive gaming, Red Storm was thrust back into action with a challenge from our friends at Five Guys Playing Halo. The gauntlet was dropped just prior to the launch of Halo Reach. The terms were set; we would play a 4 vs 4 format, three game series, with each team alternating the choice of map and gametype. At a mere four days after the launch of what is to become our new gaming staple, we weren’t sure how we would fare. Would our DMRs be honed in enough to avenge our loss in the last outing against this team of skilled players? Could we harness the momentum of the win from our last matchup against 8-Bit Brigade? Read on to find out…

Game 1: Team Slayer on Sword Base

With Five Guys choosing Slayer as they gametype, Red Storm chose Sword Base, due to being familiar with the territory by way of the Halo Reach Beta. Things started out quickly with PhinX23 being awarded First Strike. The lead switched back and forth, with neither group able to pull away until around the 25-kill marker. At that point, EmPtY 7even obtained the Energy Sword and started to go off. Most of the fighting took place in the halls above the yellow lift, and the connecting bridge to the other side of the map. The IGC team became concerned of a comeback run towards the end of the game, as IRON Church had to quit playing to field a conference call from his employer. Thankfully, Church was able to tuck himself back in a corner near the Shotgun spawn in order to allow us to protect him from any of the Five Guys crew that might have found out his position and thought him to be lying in wait for a weapon spawn. Great game all around, and I’m sure all would state that it felt much closer than the score would indicate.

Result: Victory for team Red Storm

Game 2: Neutral-Flag on Hemorrhage

After getting Church back from his conference call, we continued on with the fragging. As Ironworks loves a good game of CTF, we chose Neutral Flag as our gametype for the second game. Deciding to make this a battle of epic proportions, ala Halo 2 (sans Banshees), Five Guys picked Hemorrhage as the theater to play in. As the map was set up for Big Team Battle, there were more vehicles than we knew what to do with. Five Guys worked with precision to establish a superior firing position with their Scorpion, promptly destroying ours, along with our Ghost and a Warthog. Backed into our base, with their tank providing cover fire, they easily scored the first point of the game. Utilizing the portal to mid-field, and our Revenant, we barely took out their tank before they scored again. Using the “Mini-Wraith,” as Church loves to call it, we quickly scored the next three points, with Slick WillyQ, Empty, and myself providing covering fire from positions at our portal exit, while alternating in the role of flag carrier for Church to drive us home to score.

Result: Victory for team Red Storm

Game 3: Stockpile on Powerhouse

For the final game of the Match, Five Guys decided to roll with Stockpile as their choice for Gametype. Desiring to play on familiar ground once again, Ironworks chose Powerhouse as the board. This game would prove to be more back-and-forth, with the lead changing hands several times. Both teams were attempting to nab flags close to them, and then proceed to throw flags out of their opponents capture points, which lead to several scoring timers expiring with no points ticking off on the scoreboard. At the end, however, IRON Church led us home, with almost half our capture points, and clutch base defense as the game drew to a close.

Result: Victory for team Red Storm

End Result: IGC defeats Five Guys 3 – 0 to take the clan match.

A great series of games for both clans, Ironworks Gaming Crew takes bragging rights this time around, evening up what we hope will be an ongoing series at one match a piece! Good Games! We retreat back to the motherland to await our next challenger. If you’re feeling frosty, head over to The Gauntlet section of our forums and see how we fare against your clan or community!

Halo 3 has one more week to live before the launch of Halo Reach, so what better way to send it out by joining Podtacular’s farewell tournament. Representing IGC in this tourney was Midge, Wally Smalls, and Slick WillyQ, together we were known as the Red Minjas. Although we were elminated in the first round of the tournament against STSK (Skills That Scores Kills) we enjoyed participating. Here’s a quick rundown of the carnage:

Game 1: Team Slayer on The Pit

We worked well as a team with callouts and teamwork, however we were outmatched by gunfire from all directions. STSK team shoot their way to victory with a final score of 41 to 29.

Game 2: Team CTF on Citadel

This was a long and painful game for the Red Minjas. STSK scored fairly early in the game which forced us to play heavy defense in order to prevent another capture. We were able to hold them off for a good ten minutes, but they eventually broke through our wall and scored once more giving them a comfortable lead. We were able to get their flag back to our side of the map while they had ours on their side of the map. Back and forth for 5 minutes each team would try to return their flag in order to score. The Red Minjas caught STSK by surprise with an energy drainer landing on the flag carrier, he was dropped quickly and the flag was returned. Midge quickly scored after our flag was returned. The game lasted the full 20 minutes with the final score being 2 to 1.

I cooked up this montage as a farewell to a great game. We are all looking forward to Reach, but until then think about all the good times had in Halo 3. What are some of your great moments from Halo 3? Post it in the comments.

Calling all comrades! Ironworks is getting ready to send troops into battle against some of the toughest competition around, so make sure to give the folks at arms a clap on the back as they get set into battle next week.

That’s right, the Good Gaming Network (GGN) and Tied the Leader are putting on a Modern Warfare 2 tournament, and IGC Alpha Squad has answered the call. The rules are fairly simple…Hardcore settings, Double Elimination; prepare for Search and Destroy! First round starts this week, with our first squad, IGC Alpha, taking on All the Kings Men, while our second squad, IGC Red Mother, looks to defeat the behemoth of OCR Ruin.

Your lineup for this week is:

IGC Alpha

BlueRabbit720

Kins Dearest

ShoTt T0 Kill – Alternate

IGC Red Mother

wyoming001 – Captain

Stay tuned to your local minister of propaganda for more information regarding the activities of your fellow crew members!

9/4/10 Update

Red Mother is out of the tournament, but Alpha is keeping our hopes alive. They’re doing a great job, and are among the final few teams remaining. We’re proud of you guys!

They were in the final four of the winner’s bracket last week, before falling in a difficult match against Team SLAP. Right now, they’re currently working they’re way out of the loser’s bracket in hopes of getting a shot at the championship. Stay tuned for further updates.
